AirPods Hearing Test not showing on iPhone

Yup, just went through all the iOS18.1 updates on my iPhone and iPad. No go. Canada wont have the software for a while, maybe never. Could be a problem with Health Canada I’m thinking. Regardless, I’m returning mine till they get them to do the functions I bought them for. The hearing aid aspect…

I’m having the same problem. I just ordered a set of Pro 2 earbuds from Amazon, and they shipped me Pro 2nd generation. Apple confirms that these are NOT the same product, but Amazon insists that they are. For those of you out there having this problem, check your box and see which one you have. 2nd gen does not have the hearing aid feature, and will not receive it. I’m having trouble getting Amazon to take these back, even though they sent me the wrong ones.

M4 IPad Pro with IOS 18.2, 7B21 firmware on Air Pods Pro 2 A3047/A3048 and no "Hearing Test" or "Hearing Assistance" to be found in Settings or Health. I am in the USA, with a USA profile and registered devices there. I have a case and just downloaded the diagnostics for Apple, so I hope that they can solve the mystery quickly. Mentioning it here in case someone else has the same issue with the same config, and/or solved this themselves. I will report the resolution if/when it's arrived at. I don't have an iPhone, BTW. Many reboots and followed the online instructions. The Health app isn't showing up in the Location Privacy settings to allow it access to my US location, so I think they are trying to track that down. Very anxious to give a try of the Hearing Aid function!

I think both the hearing test and hearing aid features vary heavily by country. Sadly these features have been promoted heavily because they are available now in the US. I think the expression “dropped the ball” would apply to Apple on this.

Update two days later. January 4 2025

After talking to apple help desk online and trying all the resets ,updates etc that were all up to date anyway still no hearing test .Apple help desk did admit they had a real problem and lots of people were having trouble doing the hearing test /using them as hearing aids.They recommended contacting Apple Health which still hasn’t gotten back to me two days later.

I will update again when I hear anything back or get the AirPods to allow a hearing test.

I’ve heard it is the government preventing this in Australia. I don’t know if this is true, but apparently they get a kickback on hearing aids and so haven’t approved this for AirPod pro 2.

apple support sent me a list of countries that have approval. Australia is not on the list, despite the facet that is has been approved by whatever that department is called that has to approve these things.

it is very disappointing, I have the latest software on my iPhone 13 and all iPads, but there is no sign of it.

if anyone else has heard about this please let me know.

Just updated airpods pro 2 (usb-c version) today to 7B19 and also updated phone to ios 18.0.1, and the option for the hearing test is not available.

I've updated iPhone to 18.1 and new update on AirPods Pro and there is no hearing test function.

ios 18.1 just update again today.... Airpods Pro 2 Lightning 7B19... nope... hearing health does not show up yet...

All this will do is allow you to take a Hearing test. It will not allow you to use the Airpods as hearing aids.

I’m in Oz just now on holiday. None of it would work in UK on 18.1.

Whilst over here, I upgraded to 18.2 and it all works.

No idea if it’ll stay that way when I return home!

I was using hearing Test by using this link but it's not working since 2 weeks.

I think they have removed the hearing Test feature for countries which haven't gotten license for Hearing Test.

I’m running 18.2 on my iPhone16 and it showed the hearing test was available,I tried it and it worked .

18.3 is available but I haven’t installed it yet .

This is in the United States.
