Why is the Apple Intelligence not included on my iPhone 16?

Just trade in my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the 16 expecting it to have all the features that were advertised with Apple Intelligence.

But instead I got a phone virtually the same as my 12 with a bit of a hardware upgrade.

So I’m with Rogers, I’ve got the IPhone 16 pro max. I think I heard the AI will be released near the end of October ? Is that correct ??

Thanks

No.. I purchased the phone because it was advertised to have AI. So please don’t lecture me about patience. You have a great day though.

You mean you bought the phone without doing ANY research on when it's features would be available. Had you done research on AI, which Apple published publicly, you'd have known just like I did and likely millions of others that Apple Intelligence would arrive this fall and would NOT be on your iPhone on day one. That's on you, no one else.

Apple published this in advance of anyone ever getting an iPhone 16 model --> Apple Intelligence Preview - Apple

what is it that you’re looking for when you’re typing a message or something highlight whatever text you want to highlight you have the option for text effects and you have the option to use writing tools. Now, if you’re trying to send an aggressive message, Apple Intelligence is not prepared to alter those messages just yet. However, if you ask Siri something, your phone should have the Apple Intelligence, Siri feature where the outline of your phone is lit up. Is this not the case in your event?

I reside in Ireland and, like many others, was enticed by the enticing promises made by Apple. I waited patiently, especially after reading in December that Apple AI would be launching, but nothing materialized. When I reached out to Apple support, they informed me that, yes, English language support had indeed been extended to Ireland. However, I couldn't help but wonder what advantages this brings to my iPhone that I didn't already have.

still no sign of APPLE AI. I will not be falling for this again.

I have iPhone 16 and I turned on Apple Intelligence. I was only able to use some of the new features for example Siri, proofread of messages and clean up tool on photos. I am not able to use Jen emoji, I am not able to ask Siri questions based off photos, and I am not able to use the playground app where you can create different AI photos using photos you have how come I am only able to use and have certain features of this new update

You MUST have the device region set to THE SAME region as you have set Siri. I had my iPhone (and my MacBook Air) set to English US, but I had Siri set to a make a British voice (just for fun). Neither my MacBook nor my iPhone 16Pro offered AI.

My devices are set to the British male voice, but I had no trouble downloading Apple Intelligence. I don't believe that the selection of the Siri voice is relevant. I suspect that something else of which you are unaware changed at the same time.

Every commercial on TV is broadcasting the 16 model with Apple Intelligence. I understand Apple is not advertising it on their website that it’s available yet but people don’t necessarily buy their phones by reading the fine print on the Apple website. They are buying their phones through social media and television commercials that are promoting the phone with this feature and it is not available yet so it’s frustrating.

If you’ve updated to iOS 18.1 then you can follow these directions. I’ve also added screenshots. After updating, you still have to join the waitlist for it to be pushed through to your device.

Go to your settings and from there, scroll down to Siri, and Apple Intelligence.

once selected, there is a blue link to either join waitlist or if you already have, it will say joined waitlist.

it takes about 20 to 45 minutes to receive the update, but you’ll have the opportunity to have Apple Intelligence. Finally, it’s here! Once you receive Apple Intelligence, you will have the message I’ve screenshot below. I’m about to follow my props. I’ll follow up with an update on another thread.
