Problem with FCP validating Apogee AU plugins.

FCP (v 10.6.5) refuse to validate the AU plugins supplied with my Apogee Symphony Desktop. Logic X , Davinci Resolve and the other auto apps that call AU plugins work fine. Only FCP refuses to validate the plugins from my Apogee Symphony Desktop device - and hence they are not loaded for use with FCP. I have de-installed/re-installed FCP, deleted its preferences, etc. but the problem persists.

Hey Joseph Becker,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you're having some issues with Audio Unit plug-ins and Final Cut Pro. Right?

This guidance from Where are third-party Audio Units plug-ins installed on Mac? - Apple Support may help to get Final Cut Pro to recognize the plug-ins.

"You can install Audio Units plug-ins from manufacturers other than Apple to process audio in Logic Pro, GarageBand, and Final Cut Pro. When installed, Audio Units plug-ins appear as individual components in the Library folders on your Mac:

  • In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components" into the Go to Folder field, then click Go.
  • You can also check the Library in your Home folder. In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter "~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components" into the Go to Folder field, then click Go.

Built-in effects and instruments included with Apple apps like Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, and Final Cut Pro don't appear in the Library folders and can't be removed manually."

If not, reach out to Apple Support for a closer look at the issue.

Take care.

Thanks for the kind reply. However, my issue is that the Apogee AU plugins are correctly installed in the "/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components" folders as you mentioned AND Logic X does recognize and validate them making them available in Logic and the other audio apps on my system. However, FCP still reports them as incompatible on launch and hence they are not loaded. Still trying to figure out a solution to this.

Greetings Joseph Becker,

Thanks for providing those additional details and screenshot.

Based on the information you've provided, the next best option would be to reach out to Apple Support directly using this link here: Get Support - Apple

From that link you'll want to choose Select a product > Mac > Apps & Software > Final Cut Pro. From there select Continue, and you should see a few options to reach out, depending on your location.

Best regards.
