Mail app not sending emails, then they disappear like they never existed - gmail

iPhone 11 - IOS 16.02

MWM22X/A

I have only just noticed, emails I clearly remember replying to have not been sending. This dates back a couple of weeks. On top of this they don't exist in draft / deleted or sent items. It's as if I never sent them at all.

I am a serial closer of apps, might be a bit OCD, but it has never been an issue before. IE I'll type up my reply, hit send and while it's happening close the app. Again, could be the cause, but It's only started doing it since the last few updates. I have switched to the Outlook App in the meantime, which sucks because it has ads.

Anyone care to weigh in on this / have similar issues?

Trying to rule it down to the app and not the service, Outlook seems to work fine.

Thank you

Hello Venomouse,

The first thing we would recommend would be to not close the app so fast. Let it complete its work before shutting it down, as that could definitely cause issues like you are describing.

Since the app may have been closed in the middle of performing a function, we would actually suggest that you power cycle the iPhone by pressing and holding either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. Drag the slider and wait 30 seconds for the device to turn off. While simple, this can refresh the iOS, apps and connections. More information is available here:  Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If you continue to have an issue after following these steps, post again. Others here may have suggestions.

Have a good day.
