How do I restore hand gesture emojis in FaceTime after iOS update?

A fee months ago, when using FaceTime, if I made certain hand gestures it would generate emojis which appeared on the screen to me and the others. This function no longer exists. I have googled it and what I have found online does not correct this.

Fireworks, or hearts, or hand waves would appear depending on what I did live with my own hands.

I’ve searched Reactions in the search bar in the control center and that isn’t an option. I’ve even searched Settings and nothing comes up.

Initiate a FaceTime call first, then open Control Center and tap on the control that says Video Effects that has a video camera icon. It should be on top of Control Center. Reactions is one of the options you can turn on/off. The setting will persist for all future calls.
