How do I restore hand gesture emojis in FaceTime after iOS update?

A fee months ago, when using FaceTime, if I made certain hand gestures it would generate emojis which appeared on the screen to me and the others. This function no longer exists. I have googled it and what I have found online does not correct this.

Fireworks, or hearts, or hand waves would appear depending on what I did live with my own hands.

Where in Settings were you able to do this? I have an iPad Pro 4th gen iOS 18.4.1 and don’t see where this would be. Thx

It is not in Settings, it is in the Control Center. Initiate a FaceTime call first, then go to Control Center and choose Video Effects.

There’s nothing in control center that modifies the lack of hand gestures functionality.

Are you using an iPad or are you talking about the iPhone?

What is the model of the device?

Note: To use hand gestures, open Control Center on an iPhone 12 or later, tap FaceTime Controls, then make sure Reactions is turned on.

I’ve searched Reactions in the search bar in the control center and that isn’t an option. I’ve even searched Settings and nothing comes up.

Initiate a FaceTime call first, then open Control Center and tap on the control that says Video Effects that has a video camera icon. It should be on top of Control Center. Reactions is one of the options you can turn on/off. The setting will persist for all future calls.
