iPad Pro gen 5 not charging properly

I started having charging problems with my iPad Pro 12.9 gen 5, sometimes it changed sometimes it’s didn’t. I had to wiggle the charge cable to get it to work. So I took it to a repair shop and the guy says the port was faulty and needed replacing and that this particular model there was issues with it. After a few weeks I found another repair shop closer to home and took it there I explained about the port and I left it with him. I got a call a few days later to say he replaced the port and the same happened again so he tried another port in case that new one was faulty but still the same. So he discovered that there was an issue with a piece of hardware behind the port that doesn’t recognize some non apple cables and shuts down charging and it was faulty now. My iPad charges when it’s off but when it’s turned on it’s plays up. He now has to order a part which costs a little bit more than a replacement port. So I’ve given him the go ahead as it’s used by my young grandson as well as me. Hopefully this fixes it. I will let you know if it works. I’ve checked other questions on this site related to this problem that no one has got fixed so fingers crossed this works. Does any of the experts on here ever heard of this fix issue?

Be aware that in using a third-party repair shop, you will have forfeited all support from Apple.

For practical purposes, in lieu of attempting to repair and return your own iPad, Apple will usually exchange the iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. The cost of the exchange is the same as would otherwise be charged for repair - and will have a warranty.

No doubt others with a similar problem may derive helpful information from your post - and the associated caution outlined within my reply.

If the third-party repair fails for any reason, Apple will decline to assist with resolving a failed repair. Other owners, contemplating using anything other than an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP), need to understand the potential consequences of straying outside of the official repair network when seeking non-warranty repairs.
