iPad Pro Charging port and Apple form issues
Earlier today I posted this:
I just replaced my IPad Pro 12.9 3rd generation because the charging port (I assume) no longer worked. When I charged the battery, the battery worked fine. After several weeks of problems with recharging the iPad, it finally quit. My husband had the same problem with his pro a few months ago and we had to replace that iPad also. Upon further investigation I see this is a reoccurring problem with the USB-C ports. And the only thing you can do is buy another iPad. You can’t even trade it in. My iPad was barely 3 years old. If this is a product issue, why isn’t Apple trying to fix it or at least allowing trade-ins?

I received two answers to this post. I suspect they were Apple employees or contractors. When I tried to respond to their comments, I got and error message to try again and to Log in again MANY times.
So, here are the answers to their questions. I only use Apple cables and bricks. We have 6 Apple devices at the one time. We are very familiar with Apple and how to use its products. Currently one of the devise is a 2nd gen mini-pad and it still works. In fact we have NEVER had a problem with a lightning connection.
One responder suggested the USB-C connector need to be handled carefully but are robust. Yet both USB-C products we have had has broken for the same reason. What would Apple change from a charging port that works flawlessly to one that needs special handling? That’s a bad business model.
Finally one of the responders suggested taking the iPad Pro (that Apple won’t take as a trade-in) to a Genius Bar. From what I understand, the Genius Bar does not know how to fix this and their suggestion is to buy a new device. Great.
I live 90 minutes from an Apple Store. If someone could give me concrete information about how to get satisfaction for a 3rd gen iPad Pro that can’s accept a charge from the Genius Bar I’ll make the trip. Otherwise, this $1700 iPad is just junk.
We have probably purchased more than 40 Apple products, but this will be the last if Apple does not show some goodwill.
