Standby mode not working in iPhone 16 Pro Max

Using iPhone 16 Pro Max

Using iOS 18.2.1 - Problem present ted before upgrading to 18.2.1

Standby Mode Settings - Standby (on), Display ("Automatically" although all other settings presented same result), Night Mode (on), Motion To Wake (on), Show Notifications (on), Show preview on Tap Only (on or off gives same result)

Tried several power sources including mag safe

Tried reset (without wiping e-sim)

Rotation lock is not on

When I press the standby widget, left or right swipe does nothing. Up and Down only cycles 4 pictures. There is only a + button and Done button, there is no - button. The + button only shows more pictures.

Sometimes the standby goes in and off on all power sources but there is no indication (sound) that there was a disconnect.

Standby worked in the beginning but now works only as described above.

You must be joking. Of course I am touching the screen.

The previous post which I must assume you did not read stated "just swipe left or right without holding your finger down". I assumed this ment touching the screen but not holding it down long enough to go into an edit mode.

I'm not completely clear in what's going on with your iPhone so some or all of this may be redundant, but to change the overall display when in StandBy mode, just swipe left or right without holding your finger down. To change a specific widget to another one, swipe up or down, again without holding your finger down. To change the settings for a given widget in StandBy, hold down on the widget and a settings screen should pop up.

If this doesn't help, please post back.

Regards.

Thanks for your input. I tried resetting without resetting sim(I live in a country where the sim currently must be entered by the carrier not the user) and I tried resetting with sim. Neither worked. Completely wiping the phone and installing from a backup did work and now standby is working correctly. No fault of your own but now I need to go back to may carrier to install the SIM. All is well now. Long solution to an inane problem.

Thanks to everyone that tried to help.
