My “read” notification is turned off but people will still see when I reas my messages .

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have my read notifications turned off but people can still see when open the message. I have tried turning my phone all the way off. Turning it on and off again , restarting . I have 5 other people I know with the same issue . Is this a bug ?

Hello Vaneruiz2016,

There is a global setting to turn on and off read receipts (within Messages Settings), but you can also set these individually per message.

Open Messages
Tap on a conversation
Tap on the Contact's name (top middle)
Toggle off Send Read Receipts
