curser jumps while typing in a table in macOS notes app

Hi,

Has anyone else the problem and may know a solution?

In the notes app on the Mac, I have a table in which I collect my to-dos from the day, the week, and the month.

When I type in the table, the cursor very often jumps back. For example, I type "ask the question, and what comes out is "aks qesiontu" or stuff like that.

It happens exclusively in the notes app and only when typing in the table. It does not occur during "normal" typing.

Sometimes it helps to leave the full-screen mode, and sometimes, it helps to restart the app. The problem reappears almost every day.

Do you know how I can solve this?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like this issue only occurs while using the Notes app. If so, we’d like to recommend some steps to help out. First, try refreshing things by quitting the Notes app and restarting your Mac:

1.) Quit apps on Mac - Apple Support

2.) Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

If you confirm, this issue still continues after attempting these steps, try starting up in safe mode. This step will help further isolate possible software related issues. Steps on how to start up in safe mode can be found here: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Apple silicon

1.) Shut down your Mac.

2.) Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.

3.) Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”

4.) Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Depending on your results, follow the steps under “If the issue continues in safe mode” or “If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode”.

Hi,

Thank you for the instruction!

Quitting the Notes app and restarting the Mac had no effect. I already had tried this.

But I haven't recognized the problem since the last macOS update (shortly after I asked the question). The update before hasn't changed/fixed it. But maybe this one did.

Sorry that I haven't checked for updates before asking the question.

As the problem occurs not permanently, I keep an eye on it, and if it reoccurs, I check if it is present in the safe mode.

I will keep you informed.
