Cursor Jumping Issue in Notes App When Editing Ongoing Note

Hi, I've read several threads about this issue (though none that are open or resolved). Has anyone found a solution to this frustrating problem?

For me, it happens in any note I’m actively adding to, like an ongoing list. I use Notes for work to track bookkeeping tasks for a restaurant. I need to update my list of weekly issues so they can be referred to later if needed. However, using Notes has become increasingly difficult because, as I type, the cursor keeps jumping to a previous position. This happens frequently, especially each time I return to the app.

I'm on the latest OS (15..3.1) and it is still happening. This cursor jumping issue in Notes is happening both on the iPhone and the MacBook.

Does this issue Only happen in the Notes application which was part of the Original Question by @ JacHop

Or does this mouse issue occur in everything ?

If so, context and details would be helpful

Details about the maker of this mouse would also be of great help

Hi all. I have the same issue. The cursor is jumping randomly in the texte while writing in the Notes App on my iMac. This only happens in the Notes App. Is it possible that's the error is relayed to the auto text suggestion. The word is filled in automatically and the cursor jumps directly to the end of the word, without waiting what you wanna type. I will try to turn the suggestion off and see if the results is better.

It’s still happening, even with normal writing — no tables, no fast typing delay — just regular text with no changes to default formatting. I should mention that earlier in the same note, I had dragged in some screenshots (MacOS’s default file type). The note is about 90% typed lists and 10% dragged-in screenshots.

I'll paint a picture : The issue happens when I'm at the end of a long list of typed items (formatted much like this comment). When I click to place my cursor, it instantly jumps to another spot — very much glitch-style. I have to scroll back down, re-click where I want to type, and then it works. But if I switch to another window (which is part of my workflow) and then come back to continue writing, the whole cycle repeats: I click, it jumps, I scroll back, re-click, and only then can I type. Maddening

My current workaround is to create a new note for the day’s tasks and then copy-paste everything into that long-running log later. It’s not ideal for a variety of reasons, but it's less frustrating — for now.

@PRP_53 yes it only happens in the Notes app, and it happens whether I'm looking at this particular note on my Macbook Pro or my iPhone 14 pro. It happens whether my bluetooth mouse is connected or if I use the trackpad (bluetooth off) but on both the macbook with trackpad and iPhone with finger, the glitch is more visual - like the first keypress glitches it away but if I keep typing it snaps back to the right place.. so typing brings it back but you must start typing without seeing the right part of the document.. if that makes sense... annoying but fine if I were just writing, but I'm keeping track of times and quantities, adding amounts to a list... typing blind could enter the wrong info in the wrong spot - it's a no-go.

Here I explained i think well for Soujo "I'll paint a picture : The issue happens when I'm at the end of a long list of typed items (formatted much like this comment). When I click to place my cursor, it instantly jumps to another random spot — very much glitch-style. (I mean instantly, no animation, no lag, 1 frame to the next) I have to scroll back down, re-click where I want to type, and then it works. But if I switch to another window (which is part of my workflow) and then come back to continue writing, the whole cycle repeats: I click, it jumps, I scroll back, re-click, and only then can I type. Hope that helps explain a bit better.
