Knitting counts as steps

I have tried to calibrate my watch and reset the data. This has not solved the issue. Would love to hear if anyone found a solution, which was not to stop tracking or take off the watch? Thank you!

How do I accurately count knitting steps on Apple Watch? Yes I've tried "recalibrating" the watch. No of course that doesn't work. So probably tens of thousands of people who knit are finding that their Apple watch will not count their steps accurately – ever. It appears the only way for the watch to count your steps is to REMOVE the watch while you're knitting. This is insane! Is there really no fix? Does Apple not care? Apple Watch counting knitting as steps I just realised my new Apple Watch is counting knitting as steps. (Argh). I found some comments from 2017 confirming this happens. Suggestions were to calibrate your watch (done) and to take it off when knitting (seriously?!) Are there any recent improvements to this issue/problem? I bought the thing to wear, not to take on and off constantly (and lose knowing me🙄). Thanks!

Knitting counting as steps on Apple watch My watch is a couple of years old and counts knitting as steps. Some one told me that the series 7 doesn’t do that. Any other knitters that have the same problem and is this not a problem with the latest watch?

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. Must admit I'm pretty disappointed as I never had this issue with Garmin and it sort of defeats the purpose of having the watch if it doesn't count physical activity correct!

There isn't any other way but to turn off fitness tracking or take off the watch.
