Mac Mail flags issue

For over a year I have had an irritating problem with mail flags on my lasptop. I occasionally used flags of different colours to keep track of certain messages across mailboxes. the problem, is that when I unflag a message, although the flag disappears the 'counter' next to the flags label in the left column does not update. In the screenshot below, although there are no flagged messages anywhere in my system the flag still shows 4! This has persisted across multiple software updates including to Ventura. It doesn't affect my use, it just offends me :-)

I have used the rebuild mailboxes option with no effect. Any body got a solution. I'm a veteran Mac user of 34 years

Ok but it did work on 2 Apple Computer where they were running macOS 11 Big Sur and again in macOS 12 Monterey.

Though, have not had issues of any kind related to Flagged E-mail Counts not working in Ventura mcOS 13.0

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

1A - Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drives from loading

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

4 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

5 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

6 - Download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

The application is free or paid from added features.

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

Safe boot made no difference. 1 - I will wait for either Apple or 2 - another user to offer other options. 3 - I'm not sure you are allowed to advertise commercial software that may be suspect on this forum. Thank you

1 - Sorry to inform the user but " Most answers are provided by other Communities users just like you—not by Apple "

1A - For that the user would need. .Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .

2 - Yes , do wait for Other Contributors to chip in for additional solutions

3 - If this were not permissible no doubt the Apple Moderators ( who work invisibility on these Forums ) would have by not Removed the Link

3A - And Only for informational purposes, this same " commercial software " has been reported from credible source to be used by Apple Support themselves to diagnose similar computer issues.

Good luck with this computer issue and hope one finds a solution 😀
