iPhone messages to myself are green bubbles

I always send my iPhone text messages to myself and when I did in the past, they would be sent in the blue bubble and then arrive (repeated basically) on the phone in the blue bubble. Now , after upgrading to iOS 16, when I send them to myself, they are sent in the green bubble. Why are they green bubbles now when they are being sent and received via Messages?

Hello prz,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about types of messages.

While we can't say exactly why they aren't sending as iMessage, we can help check the settings!

First, update to iOS 16.1. Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Then, check if it's still activating: If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

It can take 24 hours to activate. If it isn't an error from above, or still activating, then check your sending from your Apple ID, and your settings are enabled properly: Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support

Also check  Settings > Messages: What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS? - Apple Support

"To turn iMessage on or off, go to Settings > Messages."

Thanks.
