Apple TV not working with DirecTV Stream

My Apple TV model A1842 32 gB has stopped working with my Directv Stream account. The account still works with the aps on my iPhone and iPad, but when I select, t the account on the Apple TV the screen simply goes dark and does nothing. All the other apps are working (PBS, NetFlix, Hoopla, etc) fine. I have recently upgraded to the latest version of TVOS (18.4).

I have logged out and re-logged in to the account on the Apple TV, I have rebooted the device by unplugging, all with no result. I suspect that the app is corrupted, but I see no way to delete it and redownload from the App store. I have tried going to the App Store and the only option is "Open" which, of course, gives the same result.

Somehow I must get the App deleted from the Apple TV so that I can reload it,

Update your Apple TV system software to the current (non-beta) version, if not done already. How to update your Apple TV - Apple Support

Try this for any misbehaving app:

  1. Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
  2. If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
  3. If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.
  4. If the issue still persists after that, then contact the app developer for further assistance.
