Is it even possible on an iPhone 16 to keep the notification alert when sending a text but get rid of the annoying swoosh sound when you are sending a text?

Given the swoosh has accompanied the sent sound of messages since the dawn of iPhone in 2008 and few if any people are actually bothered about it, like me for example, it's not likely Apple is working on doing anything with the sound.

Personally, I would suggest you not hold much hope for this to be changed. It would take a LOT of people complaining about this and there are just not many who do.

I don't know if this will work for text messages, but open the Settings App. Tap Sounds & Haptics. Tap Sent Mail and choose None at the very top of that page. This is for mail, but may possibly work for messages. Give it a try and report back.

No. You can mute your phone if you don't want to hear the sound, but the swoosh sound isn't user defeatable.
Thank you. Seems like it should be a very easy fix and I hope they are working on this for the next upgrade because that noise is completely annoying
