Wired Apple Keyboard & Mouse don't work through Anker USB 3.0 hub. Why?

I have a Mac Studio and wired Apple USB keyboard and mouse. Not sure on the model of each. I purchased this Anker USB 3.0 hub, which I've used plenty of times before with PCs, but the keyboard and mouse will not work with it. Why? I realize the KM are likely USB 1.1 devices. The hub says it is backwards compatible with USB 1.1/2.0 devices.

Can anyone recommend something similar that is powered and hooked up via USB 3.0 (USB A connector)?

There is a small note in the product description (from your own link) that not all devices will work:

Additional Notes: Some USB 3. 0 devices require direction connection to host ports. 2. 4 Ghz wireless devices (keyboards, mice, etc. ) may not work around USB 3. 0 ports. Try using a USB 2. 0 connection.

FYI, I would not purchase any USB3 hub unless it supports UASP.

Yes, which is one of the reasons I use this hub frequently.

You may want to look in the System Profiler to see how much power that hub is using and how much each item is drawing.

I like Plugable devices. StarTech and OWC also usually make good products. I've also seen some people mention Satechi (I've never personally used them). My organization seems to like Anker products as well.....the one Anker dongle I have works well for me.
