iPhone setup for users with dementia
Is there an iPhone user-interface setup that’s easy for a user with dementia? Fewer, larger icons for most-used features only, for example.

I use many of the features in the link provided by *IdrisSeabright* due to issues with my hands. The suggestion made by *Jeff Donald* may also be helpful. Good luck in your endeavor and take care.

No, I’ve lived with dementia/Alzheimers patients near half my adult life. First my wife’s grandmother, then my mother and then her mother. Smart phones are too complicated. It’s just not possible to dumb them down (please pardon the expression) so they’re available when they need it. Personally, I’d get a flip phone with large buttons.
Best of luck with your decision making.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Jeff. Multiple family members here, too. I’ll try Assistive Access/Accessibility Support to start with and see if that works for now, and go from there.
Hello once more~ You’re very kind and such a pleasure to work with. Take care and thank you.

I wish you all the best. My mom had dementia and it was a tough road for all of us.
I agree with Jeff that, especially as time moves on, a smart phone may be too much. But, if it's early days, perhaps it will still work out.

You’ve been very helpful and kind as well, Katana-san; thank you for the encouragement. After a tough day, that was nice - totemo ii deshita.
Hello again ~ You deserve kindness and should you have further questions please feel free to post again. This community is filled with knowledgeable and compassionate people. Again, it’s been a pleasure and be well.

You’re welcome!
Everyone’s experience is going to be different. What we say really won’t make a bit of difference with your loved one. If they are good with motor skills and technology in general a smart phone may stimulate them and get their mind engaged.
Everyone’s different and you’ll be the judge of engagement and usefulness. Best wishes as you start a new journey. 🤗
