i am currently trying to do usb tethering from an iphone 8, however i dont have a sim card. i used to be able to with my old pixel, can you do this on iphone? i dont want to share the mobile data, just the wifi.

To share your iPhone's internet connection with other devices, you can use the Hotspot feature via Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth. This feature is available only if your carrier has enabled Hotspot support for your SIM. Without an active SIM or if the SIM is removed, you won't be able to share your iPhone's internet connection with other devices.
You may choose any of these three (See the Pic below)
WiFi and Bluetooth Offer Wireless connections whereas USB is wired.
