H&R Block tax software 2024 using MacBook Air Big Sur macOS 11

I want to purchase H&R Block tax software 2024 for my MacBook Air (early 2014) but H&R Block technical specifications indicate mac OS 12 or higher is required. The MacBook Air (early 2014) cannot be upgraded past Big Sur (macOS 11, version 11.7.10). I am curious if anyone has successfully downloaded and used the H&R Block tax software for 2024 with a MacBook Air supporting Big Sur (macOS 11). For a few years, I successfully downloaded and used H&R Block tax software onto my desktop Mac supporting High Sierra (macOS 10.13) when the H&R Block requirements stated Catalina (MacOS 10.15) or newer was needed. I am hoping to have the same luck with my MacBook Air (early 2014) supporting Big Sur (macOS 11). Who wants to be the guinea pig this year?

I transferred the software from my iMac to my MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur 11.7.10, and it worked fine despite receiving a message stating that the software was designed for macOS 12 for optimal performance. I clicked "Continue" and proceeded with the installation without issues. You shouldn't face any problems with yours either. I successfully completed my taxes, submitted them, and they were ACCEPTED by the IRS.

I've noticed a couple of issues: firstly, I can't send the return. Secondly, when I try to save, close the software, and then return to it later, everything gets wiped, and I have to start over. Can you save your progress?"

Congratulations! I am really happy for you. Perseverance pays off! Thank you so much for letting me know. It will be quite a while before I finish my tax return (house rentals, etc.) but I do plan to report back! I feel pretty confident it will work!

Yes, I can save my progress. I tried it a few times. It opens to what I "saved" before closing the application. I'll go try it again and report back.

Hmmm...sounds like a very generic response from customer support. The fact that I can easily save my completed tax return and you can't tells me something isn't quite right. If I were you, I would reinstall the software. I was using my desktop Mac with High Sierra OS 10.13.6 to do tax returns with H&R Block software for two years after they said Mac OS X 10.15.7 or higher was needed, so I am not convinced you need an upgrade. What would it hurt to reinstall it and try again? And what version of Big Sur OS 11 are you using on your MacBook Air? I am using Big Sur 11.7.10 on my MacBook Air. Maybe if you aren't upgraded to 11.7.10 you can try that first. Let me know what happens next, the suspense is killing me, lol!

H&R Block informed me that I need to update my macOS so their software can function correctly.
