Why is my iPad not showing the "Trust This Computer" prompt?

i have tried different usb cables, different usb ports, different pc’s, Resetting location & privacy, updated software, and nothing works. im starting to think my ipad has a hardware issue (im on a iPad 8th generation, and ios 17.6.1)

Your iPad8 is capable of update to iPadOS 18.x. Once updated to the most recent supported version of iPadOS, you will be able to seek assistance, should it still be required, from Apple Support.
