iPhone 6 (iOS 12.5.5) always asks to trust computer when connected via usb. The setting never sticks and I get the prompt every time. I have turned off and restarted both the iPhone and computer (iMac - Mac OS 12.4).

This is caused by the ancient iOS 12.5.5 that you have installed on your iPhone, ,which cannot be updated to handle newer security measures. Bit of a hassle, but not a bad thing to put up with for extra security.
