No Sound in Videos While Using CarPlay After Updating to iOS 18

Still no reply from Apple on the solution to fix this issue?

I do as well and it's simply ridiculous that nothing is being said about it, no solutions are being offered, and no one is responding.

This is a huge issue. I know someone that recorded over an hour of video on a car trip only to find that none of it had sound!

CarPlay support is a joke, and there are too many variations, depending upon the model of vehicle you are using. Apple needs to address this and make a SINGLE STANDARD.

Sorry, that's not an acceptable solution. I have been using the Final Cut Camera app, which seems to have no issues with recording sound and video when CarPlay is active. This REALLY needs to be fixed.

Change your sound recording from stereo to mono. I did that and I could record a video with voice while connected to CarPlay.

Switching to mono is a workaround that works for me but I’ll just not connect my phone to CarPlay until this is fixed. I’ve had nothing but sound issues with iPhone for years in regards to external mics, Bluetooth, CarPlay, etc. It was dumb luck I happened to be testing my external mic in the car when I came across this issue.

If I plug the USB cable into my phone, my Subaru Outback recognizes it as an iPhone and will play music from the speakers but if I record a video, there is no sound from the video until I disconnect the cable.

Same here - I still use it but the sound is a real problem for me requiring me to turn the car radio off and on every 15 mins or so. Car Play just seems to be another app that they brought out with great fanfare and then dumped on the can't-be-bothered-anymore pile.
