how do I disable automatic window resizing in Sequoia

Since updating this morning when I move windows around on my cinematic display they JUMP to full screen if I even get close to the top of the screen. How do I make this STOP!

Thanks Dialbrain. I was HATING this feature after my last update. I constantly work with multiple windows open and every time I had them exactly how I wanted them and then moved one, I had to go and fix it. How did Apple lose their way? They went from being the company that didn't role out useless features to adding totally pointless and poorly developed features just because. This was a terrible feature to have enabled by default. No value what so ever and not intelligent enough to actually be good for anything.

One of the worst feature ever. I had a hard time finding how to disable it.

I use it every day.

It is a very handy feature with just the "Hold Option key while dragging windows to tile" option left ON. Then I can use it only when needed. For example to automatically set a window neatly to some place or to put two windows side by side etc. No more cumbersome manual dragging and stretching from the sides and corners.

Yes, also I was initially irritated what it was doing. But if that new feature was not enabled by default I might have never noticed it. Even if it were in some "new features" user tip I would probably had missed it.

Ever since I updated to Sequoia Verson 15.3.1 some days ago, the window will still expand when I drag the window upward. But I have already turned off "drag windows to screen edges to tile" function. It's time for Apple to do something about this irritating setting.

Do you by chance have 3rd party software that might cause this?

For example, "Dell's DDPM software has a feature called EasyArrange which allows, among other things, window tiling just like in Sequoia".

I agree! I've flipped off all the switches in Windows. If I want "windows" I'll go back to my PC! This is the most frustrating thing I've ever seen on a Mac! Why keep stealing my real estate??? COME APPLE!

BTW, Steve Jobs said, "Focus and simplicity...once you get there, you can move mountains." Certainly no "focus" or "simplicity" here and this mountain is crushing us!

Why does disabling the tiling options work for some but not others? I have Sequoia 18.3.2 and Safari 18.3.1. I have restarted and shut down my computer entirely and my documents still automatically fill the entire screen.

Some people have reported that their Dell display software also does this. If you have any display where you installed the bundled software, it might also have it.

Not sure why Apple would not post my feedback and thanks for this solution - it was driving me crazy.

Perhaps I was to emotional so trying again. It is really frustrating when you have your system tweeked for yourself and an update breaks it. It would be so helpful if more options were customisable so we could solve things ourselves.

Not so. Nobody complains that they "do not like" the new "feature", but rather that it interferes with their work, breaks down EXISTING behavior and UI Mac users have learned to use and expect for decades, plus (my addition) breaking of several dozen rules in Apple Human-Interface Guidelines book.

This is not a feature, but badly-conceived, poorly executed, and very-hard-to-avoid User-experience change. It directly diminishes usability and productivity for users who do not know and expect.
