My phone is now working!

So after looking at the suggestions for a fix, I discovered that a soft reset worked perfectly for me. Suddenly Siri is working and there's no dictation lag. I'm no longer grumpy with my phone. I strongly recommend this for everyone suffering lag on their 16 Pro Max (or possibly other models,) as this was a lifesaver for me.

Here's the simple process:

  1. Press and quickly release the Volume up button
  2. Press and quickly release the Volume down button
  3. Immediately press and hold the Side button until the screen goes blank…keep holding until you see the Apple logo (will take quite a few seconds.)

Done! This is all it took to get my phone working great. I hope it works for you, too.

Think of it this way: Siri is super smart, but it also needs information from the web to be truly helpful. Imagine a library with tons of books on all sorts of subjects. Siri can still use its knowledge to answer basic questions you might have, like what the capital of France is, even without the library. But if you ask something that requires more research, like finding the best pizza place nearby or checking the weather this weekend in Paris, Siri needs to access the information online just like you would at the library.

So, if Siri seems a little off its game, check your WiFi or cellular data connection to make sure it's working properly. That should help Siri get back to its super-smart and super-helpful self!

Probably your device may not be connected to the internet.

Connecting to Wi-Fi is the first part and then getting connected to the Internet is the second

  1. If you are connected to a Wifi, doesn't necessarily mean you are connected to the internet. If you are not connected to wifi could be a problem with iPhone settings or Router/Modem Settings
  2. If you are not connected to the internet is the sole issue of Router / Modem Settings. Contact your ISP immediately

Internet Over Wi-FI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

For your Internet connection.

  • Over Cellular/Mobile: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency that issued the SIM to you
  • Over Wi-Fi: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you

Ok I just fixed it. The problem is as it seems in iPhone mirroring settings. So I asked Siri (on iPhone) “how will the weather be today” and it gave me different error something like “you have to change in settings. Do you want to change this one time or all the time in Siri”. I responded with “all the time in Siri”.

then Siri on Apple Watch worked.

Hi, after updating both my iPhone and iPad I had the same issue. So here’s the thing it seems that Siri will speak if I am not looking at my iPhone and will give just text responses if looking at it. It’s a bit hit and miss but if you if you look at the settings for Siri , spoken responses it does say that it will determine when to speak using on device intelligence so maybe it will learn in time.

Here’s an odd thing, yes I did get Siri to respond to messaging by turning on a preferred spoken response, but I thought I was hearing it speak but so low even though I had side volume controls turned up. I said Siri increase your volume, response was ok. It got louder next message attempt. Then I asked what volume level are you using, response 92%. Is it possible that the volume control to Siri is different than ringer volume and difficult to find?
