How to fix app notification issues after updating to iOS 17.6.1?

iOS 17.6.1 - I recently updated to this and have had issues. I thought I was having notification issues with Apps like Instagram and WhatsApp. I messed with the notifications settings within the Apps and the general settings for the phone. Nothing helped.

But, I have now realized the issue is that these Apps are no longer refreshing until I open them. The lack of notification appears to be because they no longer refresh unless opened.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or help? Any workaround?

Restart your phone.

And do you kill apps from the App Switcher by swiping up on them? This will kill them, and they won’t respond to notifications until you open them again. In general, never kill an app from the app switcher unless it stops working.

I am having issues with some apps no longer opening at all after updating the IOS to the ‘latest and greatest’. The app says it is still compatible with 12 but after this last version I think that is no longer the case. I have to have my android users open the app for me now.

I killed all apps and have restarted my phone. I have actually done this a couple times with no resolution.
