Brightness will not increase after waking from sleep

2024 M3 macbook air - After I put it to "sleep" mode, when I turn it back on, the brightness is super low, and the F1 and F2 keys do not work to adjust the brightness. The only thing that works is restarting my computer. This issue has happened a few times, and I am up to date on the latest software. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.6

Try going to the Activity Monitor application. Then searching for brightness in the search bar and then clicking on the corebrightnessd process in the search results (so that it gets highlighted blue). Then using the X icon in the top bar to kill and restart it. That fixed it for me. I am on a Macbook Air with M3 chip on Sonoma 14.7.

I'm having the same problem with the screen on my MacBook Air M3 sometimes being very dim after waking from sleep. The brightness is set to 50% but the actual brightness is more like 20%. I go to Settings and adjust the brightness above 50%. My slider isn't grayed out like some of the others are saying. I then reset the brightness to 50% and everything is OK until this just randomly happens again. It has done it 5-10 times. Auto brightness is off and I'm running Sequoia 15.2. It did it on previous versions of Sequoia too.

The command line fix in Terminal worked for me. Macbook M3, Sonoma 14.7, first noticed this problem about a month ago on a computer that is only a couple of months old. Agree that Apple needs to sort this out quickly. Like many of the other users, I can't see any of the display options that some people used to fix this problem, and the Activity Monitor fix also didn't work for me (not available).
