While playing my audible books from the Libby library app it shuts off as soon as the screen is off. All the streaming programs shut off unless the screen is left on. This is really frustrating and eats up battery power quickly. I have a new iPhone 15....please fix this Apple 😤

So when an iOs update creates an issue with an app that didn't exist prior to the update, we should contact the app developer and not Apple, the most profitable company in the history of the world?
Well I figured out what it’s related to!
Background sounds in hearing accessibility has a “turn off when screen locks” setting. I toggled that a time or two and now Libby seems to be working with the screen gone dark! Not a full fix but at the moment it seems to be working and hopefully Apple will handle it in the next iOS patch.
This started happening to me after the 17.5.1 update. I was using 17.5.0 with no issues. Additional info, is that this occurs when plugged in, iphone 14 with 91% battery health.
I had the this same problem when I updated the Libby app last week.
The support people sent me a bunch of ideas and one was useful:
I can't believe that all I needed to do was restart the phone. That's something their developers should have accounted for.
Now I'll have to see if it continues to work...

Me too. 13 mini. Audio stops when screen locks. VERY Annoying! Right with 17.5.1.
its not a battery drain issue - that’s just the impact of the workaround (setting screen to never lock).

The problem isn’t the ios update. it’s a bug in the app itself.

The iPhone battery will drain, unless it is plugged in and charging. With lots installed, the charge would be slower. As for how fast it would drain the battery, that would depend on the Battery Health and the volume (sound) you use.

B. Report this to Apple:
Toggling that didn’t actually fix the problem. It was just a coincidence. it’s a bug in the Libby app.
I did a reset and it stopped dropping.
My phone shuts off when listening to audiobooks after less than one minute.
