Struggles making stickers

Okay, because no matter how clear things are y’all always ask: I am running 17.4.1 on an iPhone 14. Now that that’s out of the way: I have some screenshots I wanna steal some stickers from. Some of the screenshots of some stickers let me take em. Some don’t do ANYTHING when I hold them down despite being clearly isolated elements (annoying and plz help with this if possible too). But the main issue I’m facing is some will try to incorporate other stuff with the sticker that I don’t want. So I edit the image to draw over the unwanted section and try again, but then it won’t select anything as a sticker anymore. Why is this happening and how do I work around it?

PS: I saw Apple likes to censor what it seems would be nsfw stickers. These are very much sfw stickers. Example images provided. Also weirdly enough the original I didn’t draw over won’t work anymore if I crop the screenshot at all (I did crop these two for privacy however)

this one works

this one does not

The problem with inconsistent sticker selection on your iPhone 14 running iOS 17.4.1 is likely caused by a few things:

  1. When you long-press an image in Photos, iOS tries to remove the background. This works well for clear images but can have trouble if objects overlap or are slightly transparent.
  2. If you edit the screenshot by drawing over parts of it, iOS might see the whole image as one object, making it harder to select the sticker you want.
  3. Cropping the screenshot, even for privacy, can change how iOS selects objects in the image.

Instead of holding down on the image in Photos, open the screenshot in Markup by tapping the edit button, then the three dots in a circle. Use the selection tool to trace around the sticker you want. This way, you have better control over what you select.

This does not look like an iOS message App.
