Why is Siri getting progressively worse?

More and more commands that worked are no longer effective. The latest was “Hey Siri, love this song” which I have used to add songs to favorites for years. Now it cuts off the song and changes the music.

The first time I noticed was a year or so ago when I requested, “Hey siri, remind me again in 10 minutes.” I work with my phone at a distance and male my commands through AirPods and had come to rely on this one because in my work my hands are often wet if not dirty (landscaping.) The reply was not the usual “ok, I’ll remind you [reminder voiced] in 10 minutes” but it was “remind you to do what?” It’s been that way ever since.

For the past few months I’ve had a similar issue of it not understanding commands that used to work WHILE I’M DRIVING (“I found this, take a look.” is not an appropriate response while I’m in traffic). Since my phone was replaced a few weeks ago this has included driving directions not being dictated WHILE I’M DRIVING. Often the response is “Getting directions to [location]” then nothing. I have to pull over or try to get the phone to voice navigation while I’m on the road.

I love that the camera keeps getting better but I hate that the phones keep getting bigger and the operating system less intuitive.
