Control nearby devices not working.

My iphone does not find my mac as a nearby device it can control. Both logged to the same Apple ID, both connected to the same Wi-Fi. When I tap "control nearby devices" it says "searching..." and nothing happens.

iPhone 11, iOS 17

Did you read it? It literally says "Control a nearby Apple device with iPad. You can remotely control your other Apple devices with your iPad. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Control Nearby ..."

It may seem pointless to you, but for a person with limited mobility like me it would be pretty useful. Yes sir, I will.

Do you have an iPad? If you did, your iPhone would find your iPad assuming your iPad and iPhone share the same Apple ID. Mine does. Mine does not find my MacBook Pro. If you google this, there are other ways you may be able to control your Mac from your iPhone, but I don't believe using the accessibility option is one of them.

This link from Apple tells you how to instead use Switch Control --> Use Switch Control on your device to control another Apple device - Apple Support

It also doesn't say it's available on iPad or Macs. I own iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, iPad 11 Pro and MacBook and I can confirm it's an option on iPhone, but is NOT an option on iPad or MacBook Pro. Other articles I've read (not from Apple) confirm this an iPhone Accessibility setting, not an iPad Accessibility setting.

And if you think about it, it's intended to essentially work like a remote control. iPhone is the perfect size device to use as a remote control. iPad really isn't an ideal sized device to use as a remote control.

If you want to contact Apple directly feel free too.

On my iPad Pro (11 inches, 3rd generation) the "control nearby devices" option doesn't show up. I did everything and there's no way to make it appear. Very weird.

This is not weird. The feature is an iPhone feature, not an iPad feature. If you open Settings on your iPhone, then accessibility, you'll see Control Other Devices. You will not find this option on an iPad.

Of course I read it. And if you want further confirmation, I also suggested contacting Apple directly. No one here on this user to user only forum works for or has anything to do with Apple. I also told you I have a MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and iPhone 15 Max Pro and Control Nearby devices is NOT a feature in iPadOS or MacOS. It is a feature in iPhone iOS. I'm sorry you don't like the answer, but it is not incorrect.
