I am having difficulty sending and receiving group messages. It seems I receive group messages 12 hours after they have been sent. I can only send group messages to iPhone users in one group. If I include a user with a different phone, the message will not send. I have to create a different message for non-iPhone users.

Report the issue to your phone carrier, MMS is their feature.
