Search in Messages does not work

On my iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17.0.3, searching in Messages does not work, either from the Messages.app item or from Spotlight. I type in a phrase that I am sure exists however the search result is a blank area. I have occasionally seen a message that more results will be displayed after indexing is complete however this has never happened.

The data on my iPhone 15 Pro was transferred via backup from my iPhone 12 Pro where everything worked as expected. Once again I even restored the phone from the backup however this did not help. Searching through the threads here I also came across instructions to enable and disable search in Messages under Siri & Search however this also had no effect. What else can I do?

Hey dariuszbie,

Those are some great steps you took on your own already. How long has it been since you updated your iOS to 17.0.3? We ask you this because reindexing can take up to 72 hours to complete in some occasions, depending on the amount of data you have on your own.

If it's been less than 72 hours, then we ask that you give it some more time for the device to complete reindexing. Also, try restarting the device to see if it makes a difference: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
