Search button not working

New iPhone 15 pro max won’t allow me to search old messages. It will find new messages but any messages prior to getting the new phone it won’t pull up. Anyone know how to fix this? I’ve tried resetting.

Hi Annoyedinfl,

It sounds like you're having an issue searching past messages on your new iPhone. If so, check to ensure your iOS is fully updated with the help of the steps in the article here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Once updated, test searching once again. If needed, the article here and steps below can assist: Search within your text messages on iPhone

"Reveal the search field in Messages

  1. In Messages, open your list of conversations.
  2. Swipe down to reveal the search field.
  3. Enter what you want to find and tap search.

If you enter "Party" in the search bar on the conversations page in Messages, results might include messages with the word party or reminders about a party.

In iOS 16.2 and later, your search results include photos in messages based on what's pictured, like a dog, car, person, or text.

If you recently deleted a conversation, it's not included in search results. Learn how to recover deleted messages in iOS."

The guide here can also assist: Search in Messages on iPhone - Apple Support

You can also test closing the app and a normal restart of your iPhone. Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch. If the issue remains, reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.
