iPhone NightStand Feature Resets Daily

iOS 17 defaults to nightstand mode with Cupertino time widget and a handful of other widgets. I have removed all widgets each day and added only a single widget for my local time. Each night I go to sleep and wake up in the middle of the night and NighStand mode is reset back to original configuration - showing Cupertino time with the 3 or 4 other widgets I previously removed. This has happened every night.

Don't even get me started on why the default widget is displaying a clock for a different part of the country, as this makes ZERO sense. Until this bug is resolved, this feature is only adding confusion. I can only assume that if it's happening for me, it's happening for others.

Lastly, seems odd that when I'm reporting on issue, the closest category I can select is 'iPhone'. There's no option for iOS or more specifically....iOS 17.

So frustrating! Having the same issue and you can only edit the nightstand when it’s on a charging stand. Be great if for one fix this issue and then add the ability to edit your standby mode anytime and not just when it’s on charge.

Hello midabe,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with widgets reappearing that you have removed. Have you tried restarting your iPhone? This simple step resolves a multitude of issues: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

If that doesn't resolve the issue, does your iPhone need updating to iOS 17.0.1? Do you have a recent backup for the data in your iPhone in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Then update your iOS as outlined here:  Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
