Wrong passcode try again in 3 hrs

When I woke up this morning, I found that the watch had fallen off its charger during the night so put it on to recharge. When this had finished it came up with 'Wrong passcode - Try again in 3 hrs'. I had not entered a passcode and done nothing to the watch. I tried turning on and off and a hard restart but no luck.

This happens to me, particularly when my watch is in my beach bag and I get back to the house. As was stated above, there is nothing you can do but wait. This is really annoying, particularly when the wait is hours. Why doesn't Apple come up with a fix, like going to your iPhone or MacBook to clear this? Perhaps they have but I haven't discovered it.

There isn't much you can do but wait the 3 hours unless you want to erase the watch and set it up again as a new watch. The following link has what needs to be done even though you didn't forget the passcode.

You can restore the watch from a previous backup if you have one.

Had the same issue with my Ultra yesterday. Put the watch on my wrist after sitting on the nightstand. Went to unlock and it would not allow me to type. Had the too many attempts message and wait 7 hours message. Again, never even got to the point of entering my password.

Turned off and restarted. Same issue.


Turned it off and let it sit for 12 hours. Same issue. Let it sit off all night. This morning, same issue.

I contacted apple support and held the left button and crown as suggested. Nothing. The display is lighted but nothing happens would not reset. Touching the screen does nothing.


Suggestions please. Trying to save a trip to the Apple Store.
