Apple blocked imessage, accused of spam! Said can only unblock 1x

My daughter's imessage stopped working. After days of frustration, and hours on phone with various support agents, and rebooting phone to factory settings, we finally got to the bottom of it- She was blocked - accused of spam.

She is not spamming. I am trying to find out if anyone else is having this happen. An old discussion touched on topic, and stated that the apple support representative said even 1 person reporting someone as spam, could result in this happening.

Our support person stated that they can unblock 1x as a courtesy, BUT if it happens again, it could result in fines, even being completely blocked out of her apple id. Which of course stores decade's worth of pics, memories and contacts. Our support person said too it could be 1, 3, 5 pp reporting, they don't have a formula shared with them. She just had to read us the disclaimer.

I'm trying to look for a link that states HOW THIS WORKS. Where did we agree to this ...the terms of how someone is reported, and ramifications, etc. I'd like to read on apples legals...can 1 person really report you as spam & it just is?

If this happened to you, please share your experience. I already gave feedback. I plan to recall apple support to see if they can provide me a link to the legals as well.

Somehow after a couple of months my iMessage and iPhone went back to normal after they said they wouldn’t fix it. I’m not sure what happened, but I did constantly call and complain, not sure if that helped lol

This also happened to my daughter, she has not spammed anyone. But had kept being added to random facetime group calls but was not accepting these she was then banned from iMessage and FaceTime, again we only realises this after me calling apple and the network provider to assist with why iMessage was not working.

Then on the 2nd call to Apple they informed us that she had been blocked for spam, and they will on this occasion lift it but if it happens again she will loose her apple id and icloud would be lost etc, loosing pics and everything.

Same thing happened to me I got reported as spam 2 times now I’m blocked a 2nd time. Doesn’t sound like I will have I message back on my phone again ever for my number of 13 years. I feel like this is a censorship of some sort. When did Apple decide all of this? Crazy how much money I pay for all their devices just to treat me poorly in return. The first advisor I spoke to also rushed me off the phone.

So after hours on the phone, I got no resolution. She told me that my account was not being throttled anymore but couldn't figure out why it wasn't working now.

I was so frustrated that I sort of gave up for a week, then went on my computer and my imessage was working again!

Two days later......and it's not again. Hoping they will fix this trash on the back end and push out an update soon.

I am a realtor so I do send a lot of text messages. I got reported as spam and the first time they were able to unblock me. Now I was reported as spam the second time & now they are unable to unblock me & they are saying the only thing I can do is get a new phone number. I do not want to get a new number I have had my number since I was in 7th grade and I am 35 years old now.. Everyone knows my number!! Since, it seems from reading all the comments they are not able to unblock will be most likely getting an android even though I have a Mac and AirPods which are all connected. This is crazy!!!

No, going to an Apple Store will not help. They have less options for situations like this than calling/chatting in. In store support is for hands on troubleshooting, not meant for account issues.

Apple’s support has 4 tiers customers can talk to, with limitations.

Tier 1, first support group you get contacting in

Tier 2, known as Senior Advisors who tier 1 escalate to.

Customer Relations Tier 1: Who Senior Advisors can escalate to in very limited and specific situations.

Customer Relations tier 2: very rare to be escalated to.

In this situation of iMessages being blocked you will not be escalated to Customer Relations.
