Song get put in middle of queue when “play next” option is used from music library

Sometimes I add songs to my queue from my music library using “play next” option, but at times it get entered in middle of the queue. I think it happens usually after me moving song up the queue or scrolling through the queue. What I’ll like to know is

  1. Exactly what triggers a certain spot in queue to be remembered as “next in spot”
  2. how do I recover from this (move the position to enter songs back to the top)

All songs are downloaded onto my phone and I’m not subscribed so I’m not using any streaming service from the music app.

thanks

Hi watlvr,

When you are adding music to the queue in the Music app, you have an option for where you want to put the song. As seen in Step 3 under "Choose what you want to play next" in Add music to your queue to play next on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device you have an option to put the song right after the song that's now playing or at the bottom of your music queue.

If you have Autoplay turned on as seen under "Let Autoplay pick what plays next" in that same resource, if you select to have a song play at the bottom of your music queue, it will insert this at the end of your last selection, not the end of the Autoplay, so it might look like it is in the middle when really it is at the end of your queue but before Autoplay.

Take care.

Hello watlvr,

If this issue continues to occur and you are not manually moving this music in the queue, let's ensure your iPhone is fully updated next. This installs feature improvements and fixes that can resolve unexpected behavior like this. These steps from Update your iPhone or iPad show how to back up and update:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If this issue persists after updating, then reach out to Apple Support next. They would be the best equipped to look into this further. Contact them here: Get Support

Cheers!
