AirPods Pro sound quality issues

Do you have the Airpods set to noise canceling? That feature uses the microphone and would affect the sound.

For the sound quality issues do you have the 1st or 2nd generation AirPods Pro the 2nd gens have way better sound quality and performance. Also make sure to update your MacBook to the latest version this will also not only improve your MacBook but bring bug fixes and improvements to your AirPods that could reduce or fix the issue. Finally make sure to clean and charge your AirPods often enough to keep the sound quality fresh and pristine.

Also for the connectivity inquiry you can choose to disable these settings if you don’t want your AirPods to connect your MacBook when you put them in your ear turn off Automatic Ear Detection under your AirPods’s settings. Note that this will disable it for all your devices not just your MacBook. You could also forget and repair your AirPods after and before each use to prevent automatic connection.
