HomePod mini says it's not on the same network as my other iOS devices

With the recent iOS update (16.4/16.5) and a new wifi setup at my residence, none of my accessories (especially my 2 HomePod minis) are connecting to my Home app/iPhone like they used to. Whenever I open up one of the HomePods on the Home app, it says it's not connected to the same network as my iPhone (even though it is and it shows it's connected to the wifi as well). I've tried every recommendation I could find (reset HomePod to factory settings and start over, reset network settings, forget the network and reconnect, reset the HomeKit). I've also made sure that the "Private Wifi Address" is turned off before setting up the HomePods again as well. The only thing I can't do because of where I live is to reset/reboot the wifi router. When I asked other residents if they could get their HomePods to work with the new wifi, they said there was no issue, so I'm uncertain as to what could be wrong.


Do you have any recommendations on anything else I could try? I'd really like to be able to use my HomePods again. Otherwise, they're sitting here using energy for nothing 😅

  2. Check network settings: Make sure that your HomePods and iPhone are indeed connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your iPhone and ensure that both devices are connected to the same network. If necessary, try forgetting the network on both devices and reconnecting them.
  3. Restart your devices: Try restarting your HomePods and iPhone. To restart the HomePods, unplug them from the power source, wait for a few seconds, then plug them back in. For the iPhone, you can perform a restart by powering it off, then turning it on again.
  4. Reset HomePods: Since you've already tried resetting your HomePods to factory settings, let's attempt the process once more, but this time, try setting them up as new devices using the updated Wi-Fi network. Follow the instructions provided by Apple for resetting and setting up your HomePods.
  5. Disable Wi-Fi Private Address: In your iPhone's Wi-Fi settings, locate the Wi-Fi network you're connected to and tap the "i" (info) icon next to it. Disable the "Private Address" option if it is enabled. This feature can sometimes cause connectivity issues with certain devices.

I've already tried all of those things, but just to be sure I did it all once again. I'm still having the issue. It did, however, seem to temporarily fix the issue I had with the Home app and my Apple TV (it actually shows it responding now, thankfully). Looks like I'll be having to contact Apple support.

The problem I have seems to be related to the Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6e. There are three bands, but they are automatically selected by the devices depending upon their distance from the router. The bands do not show up like separate selectable Wi-Fi channels like the dual band routers I am used to. All operate on the same router name. Apple should be able to offer a quick fix for this but they were clueless and wanted me to bring the HomePods to the store…

See the support article Use private Wi-Fi addresses on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support to disable private Wi-Fi addresses for your own Wi-Fi network on both devices. Make sure that each device has access to the main network, which is not operating in guest mode, client or wireless isolation etc. If your router has a separate guest mode forget the credentials for it on your own devices so they will always be on the same network as the router.

We just got the Homepod mini and have trouble installing it on two iphones.

First we created a new Home in de Home app. There we installed the homepod mini and then invited the second person in our household to share this Home. All of this worked and de Homepod mini got configured on both iphones (both using the same wigi network).

One everything was successfully configured, the first person (owner of the Home) could use the homepod without problems. The second person who was added to the home (as Home admin) kept getting the response that there's a network issue and that the Homepod isn't on the same wifi network. When looking on both phones in the Home settings, they were both connected to the same wifi but the second phone had a wifi symbol with exclamation mark.

We did a full reset, deleted the home and started all over again. Same problem, first phone worked, second didn't.

Then we did a second reset and started everything with the second phone (created the home, made it the holme owner, invited the first person to the home etc). We experienced the same problem but this time with the different phone... so every time, only the first phone that connects and sets everything up can use the homepod, the second one can't because of network problems even though it's connected to the same network.

We also don't get a notification in our home app telling us that we are on the wrong network as seen online because we are on the same wifi network but keep getting an exclamation mark.

What can we do to use this homepod mini for both persons??

If your wifi is Dual Bands you will need to go into the router settings to configure one to act as the default. if you don’t know how to do this, contact your ISP to do this for you. The iOS device you used to set up HomePod is the the band you should use (use for everything) and it should copy over to HomePod. Dual are designed to switch bands, always attempting to get the stronger signal and as it cuts off from one it causes this disconnect.
