Moving or disabling side panel in pdf files while in markup mode

So this is frustrating. When I’m in markup mode on a long pdf file on my iPad (pro 4th gen, iOS 16.4.1), there is the side panel that is on the left hand side of the page. as a left-handed person, this is freakin debilitating when I am trying to markup my doc and my hand touch’s the part of the screen with the side panel and the pages jump around. Really difficult when you’re trying to take notes during lecture. Apple got it right (lol) with palm rejection with the apple pencil so why cant they let us move this **** side panel. It just seems like there’s got to be a way to do this. Anyone know of a way to move the side panel or disable it???

For reasons known only to the Apple Developers, the thumbnail sidebar that you now see on the left edge of the screen when using the native PDF viewer cannot be hidden or suppressed. There are no configuration settings to control its behaviour or positioning.

This sidebar was originally to the right of the page - and received frequent complaint from right-handed users; Apple responded by moving the sidebar to the left - now causing issues for the left-handed user community. Many would agree that having choice in positioning either to the left, or right, would largely address difficulties for most users.

Apple do invite constructive comments and feature requests via their Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:
