How do I stop the volume buttons from taking pictures? I just need them to control the volume, and only the volume.

It's an SE (2022 ie 3rd Gen), and just been updated to iOS 16.5.

But this has been happening for years and with my previous iPhone 7 as well.

It seems to be an enforced Apple approach to make the volume buttons be dual-usage unnecessarily, and without any option to stop it either.

At least that's all I can take it to be unless someone can point me to an option to decouple the volume buttons from taking unwanted photos..

Thanks for that. Am afraid that setting was already off, and either volume button seems to take a photo. Indeed it's only ever a single photo that is taken rather than a burst, so my issue is something else unfortunately.

I think the issue may be that by being in my pocket (usually) the lock screen activates AND the movement of the phone against the material does a 'swipe left' and therefore launches the camera app without me having done it with my fingers. Have just been looking at ways to stop the Camera app launching in this way and it looks like the only option is a Screentime workaround that effectively removes apples Camera app - so it looks like I'll have to do that and instead install a non-apple Camera app that doesn't cause this unwanted issue. Am sure this just confirms that Apple don't want me using their products.
