Xbox One Controller - Constantly Have to Forget Device and Reconnect

My Xbox One controller connect and it stays connected while in use however once it turned off or not used for awhile My Apple TV will no longer reconnect to the controller.

Forgetting the controller and reconnecting is a workaround, but on the Apple TV 4K, IPad, and IPhone, when I turn the controller back on, it does not reconnect on its own... You must forget the device and follow the steps to pair the controller to the device again.

Is this the intended functionality? Why won’t the controller reconnect like any other Bluetooth device?

Hi ChampCityChris,

In between uses with your Apple TV, are you reconnecting this controller to your XBOX?

It's normal for Bluetooth devices to reconnect to the last device they were connected to.

If you connect the controller with another device between playing on Apple TV, you may need to make the controller discoverable again and either reconnect in Settings or forget and pair as you've described.

This isn't necessarily intended design, but a function of using the accessory with multiple devices.

You can connect with the steps given here:

Bluetooth game controllers are supposed to work this way:

A. Pair the controller to the various Apple devices you want to use it with. That will put the controller on the list of paired Bluetooth accessories for those devices.

B. Turning the controller on will automatically pair it to last Apple device it was used with.

C. Switch the controller to a different Apple device by selecting it from the list of Bluetooth accessories that have been previously paired with that device (from step A).

That's how my Nimbus+ Bluetooth controller works. You don't have to use 'Forget Device' when connecting to a different Apple device from the last time you used it. But my Xbox Core controller always requires 'Forget Device'. Selecting it from the list of previously paired Bluetooth accessories always results in an error message. That never happens with the Nimbus+.

So that's the real question here: why would the Xbox Core require 'Forget Device' as a step when other Bluetooth controllers don't?
