Greetings, I recently bought a HP M24f monitor to act as an extended display for my MacBook Air M2, 2022 but I can't seem to find the right resolution. Is this monitor compatible with MacBook Air?

According to a HP Support page that I found, the HP M24f is a 23.8" monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Given that size and resolution, you'd normally be running it in 1920x1080 (native) mode. There isn't a high enough PPI to really support Retina modes (or make their use necessary).
The user guide (which covers several models of HP monitors) indicates that it has VGA and HDMI inputs.

Are you connecting this monitor using a USB-C (DisplayPort) to HDMI adapter? Or a USB-C (DisplayPort) to VGA one? If you are using a VGA adapter (especially one whose description does not include a claim of support for the resolutions of 1920x1080 / 1080p, or slightly higher) you might want to try using a HDMI adapter.

"Set the resolution for a connected display
If you have more than one display, additional resolution options are available after the other display is connected.
> System Settings, then click Displays 
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)Depending on how you adjust the resolution, some app windows may not fit entirely on the screen. Using a scaled resolution may affect performance."
If that doesn't work, you may need to adjust the settings on the display. You may want to contact the manufacturer to inquire about this.
