AirPods not working after firmware update

I have a old iPhone which I can’t update anymore, running iOS 13.6.1.

the last time Apple updated the firmware, the AirPods wouldn’t constantly drop out. Say between YouTube videos, they connect disconnect and then connect again. This would repeat every time a new video opened.

after yesterday’s firmware update it’s doing the same thing. Last time it sorted itself out but I don’t know how.

anyone else experiencing the same?

Forget the AirPods in your Bluetooth settings. Then turn off Bluetooth and restart your iPhone

1 Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.

2 Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

turn on Bluetooth repair the AirPods and the issue should be resolved
