Airpods Max losing connection to iPhone

Hello! My Airpods Max -- which have never had a problem -- are repeatedly losing the connection to my iPhone. I get a "cannot connect" message. I am forced to "forget" them, do a hard reset of the Airpods Max, and then reconnect. But, the next day, it happens again. The only change includes upgrading to an iPhone 14 a few weeks ago. iPhone software is current, and I am on the current firmware for the Airpods Max. I've also restarted by iPhone as another step.

This appears to be a software issue with the improved Bluetooth profile in the iPhone 14 since everything else is the same. Insights on how to fix?
