Font book collections issue

I'm a designer, I use a lot of fonts, and the company I work for has a lot of brands so I like keeping my fonts in collections so I know which fonts go with which brand.

You used to be ale to drag a font from the finder to a collection and it would install the fonts and add the font to that collection. Now the font just installs in the generic library. Anyone have a fix for this?

Not the issue I need resolved, but in general the font book in Ventura is slow to activate fonts system wide. It's not a great update.

It cannot be fixed in Ventura. Apple has, mostly, fixed these issues in the Sonoma version of Font Book. See my currently last post in this topic:

Yes, in fact I can see many issues with the newly designed Font book in Ventura, and several very critical features are not available anymore:

  1. Ability to instal fonts directly to a collection - I instal 100s of fonts to various collections and now doing so is such a pain, as the only way to do it is to first add to the main library and then individually select the fonts to drag to a collection. I go mad doing so with 1000s of fonts.
  2. Smart collections work only with system fonts and not user installed fonts - makes it totally worthless (I guess this was the case in earlier versions too)
  3. While they have added new features/ information - but the new layout is very unfriendly, even after 6-8 months of usage I find it unintuitive to use

and lots of other minor irritating issues.

I hope Apple works on the Font book to improve it.

Agree, also renaming collections still not working in Ventura 13.2.1. Further did a clean install. Exporting collections to transfer to Ventura from Monterey. Curiously, there is no way to import. FontBook has facility to Export collections but not Import so I don't know what one would do with the exported collections. FontBook does not recognize these exported collections if placed in ~LIbrary->FontCollections.

I'm gonna repeat what I wrote in a similar post:

this is a super annoying time wasting bug (forced feature in a so-called new & NOT improved upgrade) that apple has not bothered to fix or acknowledge. they'd rather force users to WASTE TIME installing fonts into the big stew then force us to search for each one and manually drag each separate one into the collection INSTEAD of what we used to be able to logically & efficiently do: drag any number of fonts of a type into the correct collection / style designation.

this is just more proof apple does not give a flip about what users need and want. so. sick. of. it.
