I currently see no Red Dot on the icon for the WhatsApp app even though it has one unread Chat.
I am running iOS 16.2 on an iPhone SE3.
What can I do to fix this?
If nothing else, then how can I report this bug to Apple?

Okay. I don't use WhatsApp myself, but I have experienced other apps where the badge disappears when you open the app, even if the "content" is not read/viewed. Could this be the reason - or do you never get any badges on the WhatsApp app?
You can try deleting WhatsApp, turning off your iPhone, turning it on again - and reinstalling.
Start by checking if Notifications are enabled for WhatsApp.
Go to:
Settings -> Notifications.
Find WhatsApp in the list and check if Badges is enabled.
Thanks but all options are on there (I even set the banner to permanent) and likewise in the Settings within WhatsApp.
Aha, I didn't know about them. But the procedure is pretty much the same with all apps if they don't work. Check settings, delete app, restart, install again. Good luck.
