Can’t view invite to approve family sharing transfer child

Thanks to this forum I finally resolved the issue of not receiving the notification to transfer our child from my husband to myself for family sharing…. but when he opens the email in the iPhone mail app (in yahoo, which is his Apple ID) the error message says “Cannot view invite, the invite cannot be viewed from this account”. Eek!!! There is no other account. I’m beyond frustrated!! Praying one of you has some advice!

The reason they and we are going through the mail app to find the transfer request is because both your transfer requests and app download requests have not always been consistently showing up in settings for a few years now. It’s something apple needs to really approve on or just get rid of child restrictions if you can’t make them easy or reliable for the parents to do these things like transferring a child or approve apps. Why can’t they just be detached from the family on my end for a few seconds and attached to another. It’s beyond frustrating. Especially when we finally find the request in our email (using the mail app) and then we get a message saying “this account can’t view the request” when the request link is in the email that is the Apple ID email. Like wtf fix this please so we can do the transfer. Every time I think I have it figured out or find another way to get it done I hit a dead end.

Hello LuluMoff,

It sounds like your husband is trying to approve the transfer of a child's account to a different Family Sharing group via email. If they're unable to approve the transfer via email, have him try approving it via settings on one of his devices. The "Approve the Request" section of Move a child to another group using Family Sharing has more information.

"On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. If the child uses Apple Card Family or Apple Cash Family, close the child's Apple Cash account and remove them from the shared Apple Card account.
  2. If you set up an Apple Watch for the child, use the Watch app on your iPhone or iPad to remove the device. The new parent or guardian can set up the watch in their family group later.
  3. To approve the invite, go to Settings.
  4. Below your name, find a notification that says "Family Transfer Request."
  5. Tap the notification and follow the onscreen instructions.

On your Mac

  3. To approve the invite, choose Apple menu  > System Settings or choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
  4. Below your name, find a notification that says the child was invited to Family Sharing.
  5. Click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions."

Cheers!
