Apple TV purchased media black screen playback

Hello, I recently purchased a movie via the TV app on macOS (M1 Mac Mini) however when I play the movie, the video will not play stuck at start of the timeline and not moving with no sound and a black screen.


The movie is downloaded. If you stream the film it will play correctly along with on my iPad Pro the video will play both streamed and downloaded no issue.


The film is self is downloaded on to the internal Mac Mini hard drive.


Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hi SpiralProduction,


We’d like to have you begin by authorizing your Mac to play downloaded content on your Mac from the TV app.


  1. Launch the TV app
  2. In the menu bar click on Account > Authorizations
  3. Choose 'Authorize This Computer'
  4. Sign in with your Apple ID and password
  5. Test the content again
